It always seems like people completely disregard the “like you” portion of this phrase. If one were to say, “I eat pieces of shit for breakfast!” then that would be funny, but ridiculous. The phrase is still a slight towards another person i.e. calling them pieces of shit. Now if it had commas in the right places (“I eat pieces of shit, like you, for breakfast”) now that my friends would be funny.
